Herbs for Natural Heart Health
Once you've started addressing your heart disease problems by changing your
lifestyle, activity levels and eating habits, you may then want to increase
your body's healing process by adding herbal supplements to your daily
routine. There are many herbs which can be used to help to promote natural
heart health.
Using just herbs to treat your heart condition may not work as well as
you'd like, though, because if you're still eating foods which contribute to
the problem, or you're not getting your blood pumping regularly
to help clear out build ups and deposits, then you're not truly addressing the
entire problem with your heart health.
Cayenne is an excellent herb for improving the health of your entire
circulatory system. Cayenne helps feed and improve the cell structure of
veins, arteries and capillaries, so they'll start to regain their normal
elasticity. This herb also regulates the blood pressure and makes the heart
beat stronger immediately. The pulse does not get faster, though, just
stronger.
Garlic is another excellent herb which regulates the blood pressure and helps
strengthen the blood vessels. Garlic also has soft oils that help loosen
plaque from arterial walls. Garlic also contains selenium, which helps against
hardening of the arteries.
Hawthorne is known as the heart herb, because it strengthens and regulates the
heart. This herb has been used to treat weakened heart muscles, malfunctioning
heart valves, heart enlargement and heart fibrillations. It relaxes the blood
vessels, too, which lowers your blood pressure. This herb can be combined with
garlic and cayenne to make a powerful natural heart health remedy and solution.
Valerian root is an excellent and powerful herb which helps calm and soothe.
It's fantastic for use against stress and nerves, and it's great for the
circulatory system as well. Valerian root will regulate heart palpitations
also. It slows the action of the heart, while strengthening it at the same
time.
Another herb which helps calm heart palpitations is Lobelia. This herb will
also help clear congestion throughout the body, including in the blood
vessels. Lobelia is a very powerful relaxing herb too. You can rub it onto the
shoulders of someone who can't sleep, for instance, to help calm, soothe and
relax them. Lobelia can also be taken orally.
Taking large amounts of Lobelia will cause you to throw up, however, and it's
sometimes used this way on purpose to clear the stomach. In rare cases,
Lobelia will make you very relaxed and sleepy, and this isn't harmful, but
it can be counteracted by taking it with Cayenne.
